Tandem Skydive
Tandem skydiving, sometimes referred to as a "buddy jump," is the method we recommend if you are unsure as to which first jump course to choose, or if you want to do it just once to experience the thrill. A Tandem skydive requires minimal training, approximately 30 minutes. You and a highly trained Tandem Master will then ride the aircraft to an altitude of 13,500 feet and hook your harness to his. You and your instructor will exit the plane together for an exhilarating freefall, and a quiet canopy ride to the ground. This method is highly recommended for those who want to make their first jump, but like the security of knowing that a professional instructor is in control of the entire skydive and landing. An expert videographer will be available to produce a complete video and still pictures of your jump at a very reasonable cost... why wait?

Accelerated Freefall (AFF)
AFF is the most advanced method of skydiving training available today, and Skydive Charleston is pleased to offer this expert training method. AFF combines the most highly trained skydiving instructors and ground training with "hands on" freefall training to make you the most proficient skydiver you can be. If you choose to continue in the sport of skydiving, your first AFF skydive will be the first instructional skydive in a series, with the ultimate goal of achieving certification. The certification program is a 7 level program. You begin as the captain of a three or four man team with two jumpmasters and an optional videographer. On your command, the team exits the aircraft, and you begin a flight of body and mind, that will include freefall and solo canopy flight. Ground training takes about six hours, and then you are ready to skydive that day!

What to Wear, What to Bring
To make your first Jump, wear casual clothes suitable for outdoor activity at the temperatures forecast for the day. For the warm months, shorts or jeans, lightweight shirt, and tennis shoes are fine. In the winter a sweatshirt or long sleeve warm shirt, jeans, lightweight gloves, and tennis shoes are usually sufficient. On all your student training jumps, Skydive Charleston will provide you with everything necessary to make your skydive. We encourage you to bring your friends, cameras, and picnic lunches. Children are welcome if they are supervised while you are making your jumps.
